When you are tired and want to get away from it all but have little money and not all that much time, you might want to take a different approach. With the help of some ideas in a magazine (through a subscription to the National Magazine Exchange), you can actually make a vacation in your own home. Of course, it won’t be exactly the same as getting away but it’s better than nothing and won’t cost you a dime.
Have your kids go to a good friend’s house for the night (and offer to do the same for them at a later date), and then take one room in your house and convert it to your haven. It doesn’t have to be your bedroom. In fact, it may even be better if it’s something like the guest room in your house. You will be able to pick up fabulous ideas from magazine articles through your NME subscription and find just how easy it is to totally change the feel of a room in your house.
Also read about different ways of creating a relaxing atmosphere. Remember, the longer you spend planning it, the better your “vacation” will be. A lot of the enjoyment is contained in the planning stages. And, at the end of your time away, you won’t even have to get in the car to drive home, or deal with an unsightly credit card bill at the end of the month.
