Cook Like a Pro

I often wonder how people learn to cook so well.  It’s not inherent that we all know how to cook.  How is one to learn to become a good and creative chef?  I’ve started asking around to see how my friends learned to cook well and I’ve received a few interesting answers.

  1. Mom – of course, the number one response is that good ol’ mom taught them to cook.
  2. TV – Some of my friends actually said that they learned to cook well from watching cooking channels on TV.  Who would have thought?
  3. Magazines – There are oodles of magazines from companies like National Magazine Exchange that can teach you to cook well.  Whether they are teaching you which ingredients to purchase, where to get the best deals, or how to combine ingredients for great dishes, my friends say that they’ve learned loads from magazines.
  4. Trial and error – There is always the good old fashioned trial and error.  You try out recipes, try to follow them exactly, and then see how you do.

Bon Appetite!
